Jim Pearson’s First Graders and
Second Graders Second graders are Jim Pearson's pros. They will began keyboarding skills with Dance Mat Typing. This year their reach is extended to other sites which include sites for the study of Earth Science and Social Studies.
First graders are the juniors at Jim Pearson. They spent much of last year on Starfall learning to navigate sites and practicing Language Arts skills. This year, we will begin the Computer nine weeks with learning about basic computer parts and how they function and how they enhance our lives. Check out these sites to reinforce these skills at home.
Earth Science Also, First and Second Grade will use the following sites to compare the day sky to the night sky, learn about the components of the Earth’s surface, the changes in weather, Earth’s resources, recycling and conserving Earth’s resources.
Students also study animals.
We learn about animal habitats, diets, chracteristics and compare them to each other. Students describe and design the habitat of a particular organism based on its food, water, and air requirements. They design a model of a habitat for an organism in which all of its needs would be met. Visit this link to see how we research many animals. http://www.sheppardsoftware.com/
